Emperors Children – Flawless Blades

With the new release of Emperors Children I happened to buy myself and army box along with a combat patrol, can’t resist painting some pink and purple marines! 😀
I got six Flawless Blades from the combat patrol that I painted up last summer. They’re the first finished unit out of the ones I got.

I built three of them with two handed blades and three using double blades to get some variation. I have no idea what’s a good build for a game so Im hoping for this. Also not sure if I should have done all six with the same weapons choices, but I like variety when painting so that’s my priority.

Im doing all the different units in slightly different colours, to make them easier to tell apart. And also, and mostly, to make them a bit more interesting to paint. I don’t really like painting big numbers of miniatures using the same colours so to preserve some of my sanity I chose this approach.

The Flawless Blades were given white armour to make them stand out a bit from the crowd. The rest of the units I think will be in pink and purple hues. I haven’t fullt decided yet, I only painted a test model out of the regular marines.

I wasn’t sure about what colour to use for the blades, then someone suggested green and I have to say I really like how that turned out. Gives it a nice pop against the purplish white armour. Also purple, green and gold were my staple colours for a really long time. Feels good to go back to a trusted combo.

I added some purple tentacles to the leg armour, just for some ornament and to break up that big surface a bit.

Second unit with double blades got the same colours as the first unit. I think the weapon choices separates them enough from each other on the gaming field.

The bases are the same style as I have used for my Slaanesh army. That way I can double the Age of Sigmar troops as 40k units if I want to play Emperors Children together with deamons.
I also tried to use colours that match up with the Slaanesh army. Though for the Slaanesh followers I’m probably gonna be using a greater variety of colour. I feel like it’s suitable then it comes to deamons and especially Slaanesh deamons. There will be a lot of pink, purple and turquoise though so they should meld together with the Children just fine.
